The Kiwanis Kids Triathlon Series allows young athletes ages 7 to 12 to experience the fun and excitement of triathlon. It's a morning of friendly competition and physical activity that can lead to a lifetime of fitness. WHAT IS TRIATHLON? Triathlon is an exciting sport for young athletes because it involves three activities that every child enjoys - swimming, cycling and running. For more than eight years, Kiwanis Clubs in the Greater Houston area have sponsored races in the Kiwanis Kids Triathlon Series. 7-9 year old boys/girls swim 50M, bike 1 mile, run ¼ mile. 10-12 year old boys/girls swim 100M, bike 2 miles, run ½ mile. 7-8, 9, 10, 11-12. Boys and Girls compete separately in their age groupings. Participants will be grouped according to their age as of Dec. 31, 2009. However, those turning 13 in 2009 will still be permitted to race. Every athlete will receive a finisher's ribbon and "goodies." Awards will be given to the top three boys and top three girls in each age grouping. Race numbers, instructions, and course maps will be available one hour before start time. Please arrive no later than 30 minutes before race start to check in, review the course, and ready your transition area. Pre-registration: $20 (If postmarked by the Monday before race day).
